Thou Shalt Honor Thy Director — Theatre T-Shirt
Thou Shalt Honor Thy Director — Theatre T-Shirt
THOU SHALT HONOR THY DIRECTOR.
Question not their vision, nor their sanity; for their ways are mysterious, even unto themselves.
The director has a vision. It may involve seventeen chairs, an inexplicable quantity of fog, and a deeply symbolic staircase that nobody is permitted to use. But it is a vision, and thou shalt honor it. For the director bears the sacred burden of interpreting the playwright, inspiring the actors, negotiating with the designers, and explaining why the production absolutely requires a live goat.
The ancient wisdom of Thespis reminds us that artistic leadership demands respect, patience, and occasionally a willingness to nod thoughtfully while having absolutely no idea what the director is talking about. Part of The Words of Thespis collection from Wooliam Sheepspeare, this two-sided theatre shirt celebrates the sacred commandments of an art form that has never been particularly good at following rules.
